Kukon Accelerates MCP Data Business Targeting AI Agents
Kukon, a data connectivity company, is launching a new data business targeting the era of 'AI agents,' akin to AI assistants. This initiative is based on MCP (Model Context Protocol) technology, which helps AI agents easily and securely find and utilize necessary external data.
Kukon will open an 'AI-Ready Data Speciality Store' on its business data platform 'Kukon.net' in July, where it will debut MCP (Model Context Protocol) products designed to help AI agents understand and use data. MCP is a standardized communication protocol that unifies how AI agents connect to directly query and utilize external data or systems, and was released by Anthropic in November 2024.
As the AI industry rapidly reorganizes around AI agents, global payment companies like PayPal and Stripe have also begun supporting AI agents to process payments directly.
Kukon plans to start with about 30 MCP products, expand to around 100 by the end of the year, and offer it across its entire product line by 2027. Kukon joined the 'AAIF (Agentic AI Foundation),' a global consortium under the Linux Foundation, on the 1st. It will participate in the MCP working group, which includes over 180 companies such as Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, and Microsoft.
Kukon CEO Kim Jong-hyun stated that the company aims to become a provider of data that AI can directly utilize, building upon its data collection and connectivity expertise accumulated over the past two decades.
