Assault-Accused Man on Subway Line 4 Identified Through Family Report
A man suspected of habitually assaulting small-bodied women on Seoul Subway Line 4 has been identified after a person believed to be a family member voluntarily reported him to the police. The individual, claiming to be the man's family, reported themselves to a police station near their residence after seeing a photo shared online.
Previously, a post circulated on social media claiming, 'A man on the train heading towards Buramsan Station on Subway Line 4 habitually assaults only small-bodied women.' The post's author stated that the man boarded at Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station around 5:30 PM in car 10-3, and they had personally witnessed similar incidents repeatedly on the same route about five times. A photo of the alleged assailant, with his face mosaicked, was released, and a request for further victim testimonies was made. As the post spread, claims of being victimized by the same man, such as 'I was startled when he pushed my hip to get the last seat,' began to emerge.
Seoul's Jungbu Police plan to investigate whether the man is the same individual who became controversial on social media, the circumstances of the incident, and if there are any additional victims.
