President Lee Jae-myung Meets Chairman of Japan-Korea Parliamentarians' Union Ryota Takeda
President Lee Jae-myung met with Ryota Takeda, chairman of the Japan-Korea Parliamentarians' Union, who was visiting South Korea, at Cheong Wa Dae on the 26th.
President Lee expressed his hope to make the relationship between South Korea and Japan a "close and even closer country," emphasizing that improving bilateral ties would benefit both nations amidst increasingly complex international affairs. The President noted the importance of exchanges between citizens, high-level leaders, and lawmakers, and expressed his desire for active expansion of parliamentary exchanges.
Chairman Ryota Takeda argued that in relation to Northeast Asian security, Japan and South Korea should unite as middle powers to play a role in stabilizing the world order amidst an unstable global landscape.
