President Lee Jae-myung held the 'South Korea Grand Leap Forward: Three Major Mega-Projects National Report' at Cheong Wa Dae on June 29, 2026. Attending the event were representatives from related companies, including Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and SK Group Chairman Choi Tae-won. Discussions focused on development plans for 'Semiconductors,' 'Physical AI' (AI interacting with physical objects), and 'AI Data Centers,' with total investments planned to be around 2,000 trillion won. The report, held under the slogan 'From Recovery to a Grand Leap Forward, a South Korea with Unrivaled Edge,' saw participation from companies like LG Electronics and KT, reinforcing their commitment to strengthening future industrial competitiveness.
At the event, Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and SK Group Chairman Choi Tae-won announced their groups' regional investment plans. President Lee Jae-myung referred to them as 'National Heroes' and 'People's Heroes,' bowing his head in greeting, to which Chairman Lee Jae-yong responded, 'We will do our best.' Approximately 100 people attended the report, including economic ministers, heads of public institutions, and major corporate representatives. Explanations were also provided on plans for power and water supply and the creation of hub cities to support the investments.
