Feasibility studies for improving the urban road network connecting the Presidential Office and the National Assembly Sejong Building within Sejong's National Emblem Zone are officially kicking off. The National Agency for Administrative City Construction (NAACC) announced on the 30th that it has launched a preliminary feasibility study service for the construction of an underpass on National Road 96.

NAACC is undertaking this study to enhance traffic accessibility and improve urban traffic flow in preparation for increased future traffic demand resulting from the development of the National Emblem Zone. Upon completion of the National Emblem Zone development, daily traffic volume in the surrounding area is projected to surge from the current 12,670 vehicles to 35,188 vehicles.

The study, to be conducted by Dohwa Engineering until June 2027, will compare and review various options, including the construction of an underpass, improvements to at-grade intersections, and maintaining the current infrastructure.

As part of its metropolitan transportation improvement measures, NAACC is also pursuing the construction of a new interchange on the Seosan-Yeongdeok Expressway within Sejong City. This new interchange is expected to connect to National Road 96, enabling direct access for external vehicles to the National Emblem Zone.
