President Approves Han Seong-sook's Prime Minister Appointment

President Lee Jae-myung approved the appointment of Han Seong-sook as Prime Minister on the 30th. Prime Minister Han will be officially appointed starting July 1st.

This marks the second female Prime Minister to emerge in 20 years, following former Prime Minister Han Myung-sook in 2006, and she will be inaugurated as the 50th Prime Minister, the second for the Lee Jae-myung administration.

The National Assembly passed the motion to approve Prime Minister nominee Han's appointment, led by the ruling party bloc, with the People Power Party boycotting the session.

Prime Minister Han Seong-sook previously served as the CEO of Naver and was the first Minister of SMEs and Startups in the Lee Jae-myung administration.

The People Power Party stated that Han was unsuitable for the Prime Minister position, citing allegations of neglecting illegal building extensions on a property in Jongno-gu, Seoul, and a personal information leak incident during the 'Everyone's Startup' project while she was Minister of SMEs and Startups.
