KOSPI Plunges Over 1%, Enters 7,800 Range; Foreigners & Institutions Offload Combined 1 Trillion Won

The KOSPI showed high volatility on the 6th, plummeting from the 8,200 line to the 7,800 range during the session. After climbing to an intraday high of 8,237.26, the KOSPI nosedived to 7,815.53 due to large-scale selling led by foreign and institutional investors. As of 1:20 PM, the KOSPI was trading at 7,968.49, down 118.54 points (1.48%) from the previous day.

Foreigners and institutions led the index decline in the KOSPI market with net selling of 1.2344 trillion won and 1.1108 trillion won, respectively, while individuals net purchased 2.2518 trillion won.

Movements among large-cap stocks were mixed; Samsung Electronics is trading at 311,500 won, up 2,000 won (0.65%) from the previous session, while SK Hynix is trading at 2.337 million won, down 88,000 won (3.63%). EcoPro BM is trading at 119,800 won, down 4,600 won (3.70%) from the previous session.

The KOSDAQ recorded 837.15, down 31.26 points (3.60%) from the previous trading day. In the KOSDAQ market, individuals net bought 329.7 billion won, while foreigners and institutions net sold 190.7 billion won and 140.4 billion won, respectively.
