Micron Groundbreaks on New 14 Trillion Won Line at Hiroshima Plant

Global memory chipmaker Micron, ranked third, is moving forward with the construction of a new line at its Hiroshima plant, backed by an investment of 14 trillion won.

This investment results from an alignment of interests between Micron and the Japanese government, which has decided to cover approximately 5 trillion won of the total project cost directly.

Micron plans to complete the installation of process lines for cutting-edge DRAM production by the second half of 2028. Once the new facility is operational, it will enable the domestic production in Japan of not only standard DRAM but also High Bandwidth Memory (HBM), a key component for AI semiconductors.
