Allegations have surfaced that more than 15 children were subjected to over 500 incidents of abuse over a three-month period starting last October at a daycare center in Daegu dedicated to children with disabilities.

On the 8th, civic groups gathered in front of the Daegu Dalseong District Office to call for the safe protection of the affected children and the implementation of measures to prevent recurrence.

The Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency booked the director of the daycare center, along with nine others—including childcare teachers and speech rehabilitation therapists—on the 7th on charges of violating the Child Welfare Act and the Welfare of Persons with Disabilities Act. The director is suspected of negligence in supervision and management, while the other staff members face allegations of direct abuse or failing to intervene.
