DX Head Roh Tae-moon 'Outlines AI Vision Ahead of Galaxy Unpack'
"Not the smartest AI, but the AI that knows me best." This is the future of AI proposed by Samsung Electronics. Roh Tae-moon, President and Head of the Device eXperience (DX) Division, expressed his commitment to unveiling this user-tailored AI experience based on this philosophy ahead of 'Galaxy Unpack 2026' in London on the 22nd.
In a recent column published on the Samsung Newsroom, President Roh analyzed patterns of technological change, diagnosing that the next stage of AI depends not on the intelligence of the model itself, but on how and where that intelligence reaches the user. Citing examples of the electricity and mobile revolutions, he emphasized that we are approaching a decisive tipping point for the popularization of AI.
President Roh stated that AI is entering an era of agents that act proactively on behalf of users, going beyond simple question-and-answer interactions. He emphasized that deeply understanding the user is key to this transition. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of openness and responsibility, stating that the company aims to build technical trust for AI personalization without external data leakage through Samsung Knox and the Personal Data Engine.
Samsung's strategy is to utilize its wide range of form factors, from foldable phones to smart glasses, and its extensive device ecosystem as 'touchpoints for understanding people,' enabling AI to fully map out daily life. In particular, the company expects services that assist with health management, such as sleep monitoring and recovery via watches, to become a key application area for AI.
