U.S. mobility and delivery platform giant Uber has acquired German company Delivery Hero for approximately 22 trillion won, becoming the new largest shareholder of Korea’s top food delivery app, Baedal Minjok (Woowa Brothers). On July 16, 2026, Uber officially announced the acquisition of Delivery Hero, with Delivery Hero's management and Supervisory Board expressing support for the deal. Uber proposed a cash tender offer of 41.50 euros per share to Delivery Hero shareholders, valuing the company at approximately 13 billion euros (about 22 trillion won).

To clear merger regulations, Uber has decided to sell its operations in 14 countries, including Austria, Sweden, Spain, and Turkey, to U.S. investment firm SSW Partners. Korea's Baedal Minjok was excluded from the divestiture, and the transaction is expected to be completed in the second half of 2027 following approvals from competition authorities in each relevant country.

Uber stated its intention to further solidify its position in the food delivery market through this acquisition. Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi expressed aspirations to provide rational and stable services and create opportunities by combining the two platforms. Additionally, Uber identified Korea as a key market and pledged long-term investment and continued growth for Baedal Minjok.
