Foreign Ministry Urges Short-Term Residents in Middle East to Exit 'Promptly'

As armed clashes between the U.S. and Iran persisted for over a week, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advised nationals currently residing in the region to leave the country promptly. Second Vice Foreign Minister Kim Jin-a stated that the conflict, reignited by the Strait of Hormuz issue, is prolonged, and that attacks on civilian facilities and rising casualties in the region necessitate ensuring the safety of nationals.

On the 19th, Second Vice Foreign Minister Kim Jin-a held a joint situation inspection meeting with 17 overseas diplomatic missions in the Middle East to review the local situation.

Citing reports of U.S. casualties following the attack on a U.S. military base in Jordan on the 17th, followed by an explosion at a U.S. base in Iraq on the 19th, the Ministry instructed each diplomatic mission to update emergency contact networks and disseminate safety notices on a regular basis.
