President Approval 48.4%, Disapproval 48%... Statistical Dead Heat Within Margin of Error

According to a Realmeter poll, the President's job performance approval rating stood at 48.4%, while disapproval was at 48%, indicating a close race within the margin of error. The approval ratings for the two major political parties were also in a statistical dead heat, with the Democratic Party at 43.1% and the People Power Party at 40%, showing no statistically significant difference.

Trend in President Job Performance Ratings

In this survey, the President's job performance approval rating was calculated at 48.4%, with disapproval at 48.0%. Compared to the previous survey released on July 13, the approval rating dropped by 0.5 percentage points from 48.9%. Conversely, the disapproval rating rose by 0.3 percentage points from 47.7%.

However, the weekly trend shows a divergent path. Compared to the survey from a week ago on July 6, the approval rating rose by 1.4 percentage points from 47.0%. The disapproval rating fell by 1.2 percentage points from 49.2%, indicating an improvement in the assessment.

Party Support Ratings

In the party support survey, the Democratic Party recorded 43.1%. The People Power Party showed a support level of 40.0%. The gap between the two parties is 3.1 percentage points. This falls within twice the survey's sampling error of ±2.2 percentage points, indicating a close race within the margin of error.

Support for other parties followed with the Rebuilding Korea Party at 3.1%, the Reform Party at 2.7%, and the Progressive Party at 1.3%. The gap between the Rebuilding Korea Party and the Reform Party is 0.4 percentage points, which is not statistically significant.

Changes in Support by Major Party

The Democratic Party's support rating dropped by 1.7 percentage points from the previous survey's 44.8% to 43.1%. The People Power Party rose by 1.9 percentage points during the same period, receiving 40.0% support. The gap between the two parties narrowed from the previous survey's 6.7 percentage points to 3.1 percentage points in this survey.

The Progressive Party recorded a sharp decline, falling from the previous survey's 63.7% to 1.3% in this survey. The fluctuation reaches a whopping 62.4 percentage points. The Rebuilding Korea Party rose by 0.4 percentage points from 2.7% to 3.1%, while the Reform Party rose by 0.9 percentage points from 1.8% to 2.7%.

Weekly Trend Comparison of Party Support

Trends compared to the July 6 survey show minimal change in the support levels of the two parties. The Democratic Party barely rose by 0.1 percentage points from the 43.0% recorded at the time. The People Power Party was also measured to have dropped by just 0.3 percentage points from 40.3%.

The Rebuilding Korea Party rose by 1.2 percentage points from 1.9% to 3.1%. The Progressive Party fell by 0.3 percentage points from 1.6% to 1.3%. The Reform Party fell by 0.3 percentage points from 3.0% to 2.7%.
