Democratic Party Launches Preliminary Race for Leader and Supreme Council Members Today

The preliminary race for the Democratic Party of Korea's 8th National Convention will take place over three days starting on the 21st. It is a competitive stage where only three out of the five party leader candidates and eight out of the 14 Supreme Council candidates can advance to the final election.

Results from the preliminary race will be announced immediately after the online voting by party members and central committee members closes on the 23rd.

The election for the party leader will be weighted based on online voting by party members and central committee members (35%) and a public opinion poll (30%), while the election for Supreme Council members allocates 50% each to party member and central committee member votes.
