Cabinet Approves Disbandment of DSSC and Establishment of New Defense Counterintelligence HQ

A proposal to disband the Defense Counterintelligence Command (DSSC) and create the new Defense Counterintelligence Headquarters and Defense Security Support Group was passed at a Cabinet meeting on the 21st, aimed at separating the military's internal intelligence and investigation functions into 'public intelligence' and 'investigation' capacities.

The Ministry of National Defense will launch the Defense Counterintelligence Headquarters, responsible for intelligence collection, and the Defense Security Support Group, tasked with security inspections for units at the corps level and above and accident investigations, on the 31st.

The Ministry plans to pursue the enactment of a tentatively titled 'Act on the Performance of Duties by Military Counterintelligence Personnel' within the year, which will outline the scope of counterintelligence activities and standards for punishing illegal acts.
