ETRI Unveils Online 50-Year History Documenting Half a Century of ICT Achievements
ETRI has unveiled an 'Online 50-Year History' documenting half a century of ICT achievements. This digital history hall is designed to allow easy understanding and utilization of the history of Korean ICT development without constraints of time or space, with plans for the continuous addition of latest achievements and content.
According to an analysis by ETRI, the industrial ripple effect of technologies developed over the past 50 years amounts to approximately 494 trillion won. The archive provides visualizations, including infographics, highlighting the social and economic value of 50 representative achievements, such as the world's first commercialization of CDMA and the TDX digital switching system.
Through the 'Digital History Hall' corner realized via 360-degree panorama video, users can remotely tour the physical exhibition hall that opened last year. The site also features interview videos with researchers containing vivid behind-the-scenes stories from the time of the technologies' development. ETRI President Park Se-woong stated, "I hope this archive serves not just as a record of past innovations, but as a knowledge platform and compass for future generations to continue their new challenges."
