Kim Min-seok, a contender for the leadership of the Democratic Party of Korea (DPK), dismissed concerns about a party split during an interview at the National Assembly on the 24th, emphasizing that a focus on livelihood issues, pragmatism, and expansion, as well as cooperation with the government, are essential for victory in the next general election. During the interview, Candidate Kim expressed his determination for party unity, stating, 'The Democratic Party has experienced too much pain from division and has no room to split.'

He argued, 'We must win and continue our governance,' stating that establishing a practical policy line and close cooperation between the party and the presidential office are key to electoral success.

Meanwhile, the DPK is scheduled to hold votes for party rights members in the Chungcheong region from the 28th to the 31st, and elect its new leadership at the national convention next month on the 17th.
