President's Approval at 51%, Disapproval at 38%... Close Race Within Margin of Error

A Gallup Korea poll found that 51% of respondents assessed the president’s job performance as good, while 38% rated it as poor. The Democratic Party recorded a support rating of 44%, while the People Power Party stood at 23%.

Presidential Job Performance Approval and Party Support

In this survey, positive assessment of the president’s job performance stood at 51%, while negative assessment came in at 38%. 11% of respondents said they reserved judgment. In the party support survey, the Democratic Party recorded a support rate of 44%. The People Power Party followed at 23%, while the number of respondents with no party preference (independents) was 27%. The gap between the two parties is 21 percentage points (p), significantly exceeding the margin of error.

Trends and Fluctuations Compared to Previous Surveys

Compared to the previous survey conducted on July 16, positive ratings fell 1%p from 52% to 51%, while negative ratings rose 1%p from 37% to 38%. Compared to the July 9 survey, positive ratings dropped 2%p from 53% to 51%, and negative ratings rose 3%p from 35% to 38%. The positive rating index has shown a downward trend for three consecutive weeks. Conversely, the negative rating index has risen for three consecutive weeks.

Regarding party support, the Democratic Party showed a relatively large increase, rising 4%p from the previous week's 40% to reach 44%. The People Power Party fell 3%p from 26% to 23%. Compared to the July 9 survey, the Democratic Party rose 2%p, while the People Power Party fell 1%p. During the same period, the independent faction rose 1%p from 26% to 27%, then fell 1%p in the immediate prior survey to maintain 27%.
