Shin Sang-sik Elected Leader of Rebuilding Korea Party... Delivers Acceptance Speech in Suwon
The Rebuilding Korea Party elected Rep. Shin Sang-sik as its new leader with 96.7% of the vote at a national convention held at the Suwon Convention Center in Gyeonggi Province on the 25th.
Out of 36,051 eligible voters, 14,881 participated in the vote. Shin, who registered as the sole candidate, received overwhelming support.
In his acceptance speech, Chairman Shin rejected the 'hostile M&A-style merger talks' proposed by some within the Democratic Party of Korea. As prerequisites for any unification discussions, he proposed the 'restoration of the spirit of the presidential election' and 'political reforms such as the introduction of a runoff voting system.'
