Conversely, the ruling party emphasizes the need to limit the scope, warning that unlimited expansion could degenerate into political retaliation. Meanwhile, the revision of the Criminal Procedure Act, centered on the revival of the 'Jeon-geon-song-chi' system, is also a subject of heated debate. 'Jeon-geon-song-chi' refers to the past system that mandated prosecutors to take over all cases investigated by the police.

People Power Party Leader Han Dong-hoon attended a rally held in front of the Hyundai Department Store in Jung-gu, Daegu on the 25th, urging the swift launch of the NEC special counsel. He diagnosed that the court ruling or the existing joint investigation headquarters' investigation alone would not transparently clarify the allegations of election mismanagement. The logic is that the launch of an independent investigative body through the creation of a new system is the only solution to resolve public distrust. The opposition party's outdoor struggle, which has continued since the June 3 local elections, is serving as a pressure device to accelerate the bill's passage.
