Fire at Jangseong Material Handling Equipment Manufacturing Plant Extinguished After 5 Hours

A fire broke out at around 8:50 p.m. on the 25th at a material handling equipment manufacturing plant in Sinho-ri, Hwangryong-myeon, Jangseong-gun, Jeonnam.

Fire authorities assessed a risk of combustible gas explosion and issued a Level 1 emergency response at around 9:10 p.m. Jangseong County advised nearby residents to keep their windows closed to avoid inhaling smoke and restricted traffic on surrounding roads.

A total of 128 personnel, including officials from the fire department, police, and Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), along with 55 pieces of equipment, were dispatched to the scene. Fire authorities completely extinguished the blaze after about five hours, at around 2:20 a.m. on the 26th.

Fire authorities are currently conducting an on-site inspection to investigate the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the property damage.
