Shin Chang-sik Inaugurated as New Leader of Rebuilding Korea Party
On the 25th, the Rebuilding Korea Party elected Rep. Shin Chang-sik as its new leader, signaling a clearer reformist trajectory than the Democratic Party of Korea.
Elected with an overwhelming 96.7% of the vote at the national party convention held at the Suwon Convention Center in Gyeonggi Province, the new leader has secured a solid base of support within the party.
Following his inauguration, Shin plans to adopt a more hardline approach than the Democratic Party in pushing for prosecution reforms, notably by abolishing the prosecution's supplementary investigative power, which is one of its core investigative authorities.
