Multiple Water Accidents Occur at Gangwon Beaches

On Sunday, a series of water play accidents occurred at Gangwon Province beaches, leaving several people hospitalized in critical condition after they stopped breathing.

According to the Coast Guard and fire authorities, at around 2:10 p.m., Teenager A (17) and his younger brother B (14) fell into the water at Hwajinpo Beach in Chodo-ri, Hyonnae-myeon, Goseong County, Gangwon Province. The brothers' father and two soldiers in their 50s who witnessed the scene attempted a rescue. The brothers and their father made it safely back to shore, but the two soldiers who attempted the rescue were transported to the hospital in cardiac arrest.

At around 4:00 p.m., a man in his 20s fell into the water while snorkeling at Gajin Port in Jugwang-myeon, Goseong County, Gangwon Province, and was transported to the hospital in cardiac arrest. Police are currently investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the accident.
