YouTuber Dae-bo-jang, Known for Anti-Korea Content, Says He Will 'Renounce Korean Citizenship and Naturalize in Japan'

Cho, the YouTuber known as Dae-bo-jang (real name Cho), who has spread false information disparaging Korea, announced during an investigation that he would renounce his Korean citizenship and become a Japanese national. Cho had previously revealed his intention to naturalize in a recent video, stating, "I have wanted to become Japanese for seven years."

Cho is under police investigation for posting a video last October titled '37 Torso-Only Bodies Found in Korea,' which contained false information. According to the police, Cho was found to have disseminated false information, such as the discovery of 37 mutilated bodies, in videos posted last October. However, Cho claims he merely introduced online information and did not spread fake news. He is currently under police investigation on charges of violating the Basic Act on Telecommunications.

In February, the police referred Cho to the prosecution without detention. They have also applied for the pre-indictment preservation of confiscation for approximately 3.5 million won in advertising revenue earned from the video, should it be deemed criminal proceeds.
