Two Months After Murder of Woman in Her 60s in Tongyeong, Gyeongnam, Police Fail to Identify Suspect, Residents Uneasy
More than two months have passed since a woman in her 60s was murdered at a home in Tongyeong, Gyeongnam Province, and growing unease among residents persists as the perpetrator remains at large.
Police have confirmed through CCTV analysis that a male, approximately 175 cm tall, fled the scene with an emergency safety terminal after the crime. Authorities have expanded the scope of their investigation by offering a reward of up to 100 million won for information and releasing the CCTV footage. Since the release, 116 tips have been reported, and police are continuing to trace the suspect by analyzing these reports and secured video footage.
As the investigation drags on, nearby residents are double-checking their locks after dark and refraining from going out late. The local government is additionally installing CCTV near the crime scene and providing psychological counseling support to village residents.
