Teenager Arrested for Possessing Weapon While Breaking into Girlfriend's Home
The story of a teenager who was arrested as a red-handed criminal while attempting to secretly enter his girlfriend's house has been made public.
Gangdong Police Station in Seoul announced on the 16th that they arrested A (16), a male teenager, on charges of trespassing after he attempted to break into his girlfriend's house at an apartment in Gangdong-gu around 11 p.m. on the 14th. Mr. A is the individual who had previously reported the girlfriend's father to the police for threatening him and abusing the daughter due to his opposition to their relationship; he was apprehended by dispatched police the moment he tried to enter the victim's home.
Mr. A is suspected of telling the responding officers that because it was a corridor-style apartment, they needed to know the unit number together, and pretending to guide them in an attempt to enter his girlfriend's residence. However, when his entry into the home was blocked, Mr. A pulled out a weapon hidden in his pants pocket and threatened those nearby. In response, three police officers grabbed his arms and torso in the narrow elevator, disarmed him, and subdued Mr. A.
Although a weapon was discovered in Mr. A's pocket at the time, causing the crime to end as an attempted offense, it was confirmed that he had prepared the criminal tool in advance. Investigation results revealed that Mr. A had stolen from an unmanned store just before reporting the incident to acquire the weapon.
Police believe they prevented the situation from remaining a simple domestic violence dispatch and escalating into a relationship crime by blocking Mr. A's entry into the home. Police plan to conduct further investigations into the details of Mr. A's crime and whether he had specific plans.
