PPP Moves to Probe Lee Jae-myung Government's Profligate Spending and Secret Service Funds

People Power Party (PPP) members of the National Assembly's Budget and Accounts Committee decided to strictly scrutinize the Lee Jae-myung administration's significant increase in national debt due to expanded budgets and the usage of special activity funds by the Presidential Office and independent counsel offices during the FY2025 settlement audit.

At a press conference held at the National Assembly on the 21st, Yoo Sang-bum, the PPP's floor leader on the committee, and other lawmakers stated, "We will verify the supplementary budget—which increased by 30 trillion won compared to the main budget—and the resulting increase in national debt of 28.6 trillion won." They also pledged to reveal the details of special activity funds amounting to 2.12 billion won used by the Presidential Office and three independent counsel teams.

The PPP has called for the disclosure of special activity fund usage by the Presidential Office and the three independent counsels: Cho Eun-seok, Min Jong-ki, and Lee Myung-heon. Following the analysis of the execution rate of the second supplementary projects, the party plans to proceed with its audit by uncovering the details of special activity funds for the Presidential Office and the three independent counsels.
