Jeju Police Urgently Arrest Officer Over False Closure of Jang Mi-ran Missing Person Case

Sergeant A, who was under investigation for allegedly falsifying the closure of the missing person case involving Jeju's Jang Mi-ran, was urgently arrested by police on the 22nd after it was revealed he had unilaterally closed another missing person case in the same manner. Police stated that on the 21st, they confirmed that Sergeant A had made a false report regarding a case he had marked as cleared on July 2.

Mr. Jang remains missing for a third month amid the botched response. On the 20th, police prepared for an intensive search at Hallim Port in Hallim-eup, Jeju City, to locate Mr. Jang.

The Jeju Provincial Police Agency’s Anti-Corruption and Economic Crime Investigation Unit announced that it will conduct a strict investigation, including into Sergeant A's additional offenses.
