August 30 Public Data Report: The 'King Ssuma' Funding Frenzy

On Wadiz, the 500g King Ssuma product raised 15.7 million won in funding.

The trend does not end with a single project's success. A synthesis of public data from 175 companies reveals that government procurement contracts, job postings, and crowdfunding pledges are all pointing in the same direction. This suggests a landscape where small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are simultaneously penetrating both the public and consumer markets.

Procurement Market Diversifies into Environment, Forestry, and Surveying Specialists

In the government procurement sector, specialist service firms made their presence felt. Daeheon Environment, Daikyung Forest Development, and Sanlim Resource Development were named in environment and forestry-related procurement. Geumgang Geographic Information secured contracts in the spatial information field, while Hanin Architects & Engineers and Hanbit Engineering & Architects won contracts in design and engineering. The participation of life insurer Kyobo Life Planet and tourism firm Namdo Tourism was also noteworthy.

Public orders centered on the government’s e-procurement system offer more stable payment collection than private contracts, serving as a fixed revenue base for niche specialist firms. The sequential entry of tech service companies like Jinwoo ATS, Ace Stone Engineering, and Innovative Safety Technology into procurement is interpreted in this same light. With diverse industries—from Saeroi to Wible, G&B Planning, and Neulpume EN&C—knocking on the door of the public market, entry barriers appear to be lowering.

Global Signals Embedded in Job Postings

The keywords in the hiring market were technology and overseas expansion. Renewpeople Corporation sought to fill multiple roles at once: a Global Game GM, an ITS Lab Director, an overseas sales team leader for defense PCBs, and a resident manager for a Vietnam production factory. This spans a wide range from game operations to defense component sales and overseas dispatch. This is read as a signal that domestic manpower is flowing back into production and development sites.

The competition for talent also unfolded in the manufacturing sector. Laon Search sought experienced SHE (Safety, Health, Environment) personnel from an advanced chemical manufacturer, while Background requested a quality control manager from a famous group’s KOSDAQ-listed affiliate. JSE looked for an automatic control programmer, and Human Consulting Group sought a year-end tax settlement module developer. Hiring in education and fitness services was also active. Shop Music recruited an early childhood music instructor for the CK Education Cheongju branch, while S English Academy and Saenggak Academy posted administrative and math instructor positions, respectively. Usefit’s Changwon branch looked for freelance trainers.

Funding: Products That Passed Consumer Verification

In crowdfunding, food, daily necessities, and AI tools achieved balanced results. OnGwa, the maker of King Ssuma, recorded the highest funding amount at 15.7 million won. SsongOn’s AI Content Production raised 3.8 million won, and Trubo’s anti-theft travel sling bag gathered 2.92 million won. Algorixm’s AI service production tool reached 1.79 million won, and Troykey’s 10-head massager reached 1.53 million won.

Funding is the fastest route to verify whether a prototype will succeed in the market. LOOK AT ME built brand-level verification by successively launching several projects, including cooling boxers, silicone body pads, and wrist-style smartphone holders. SMS also identified demand in the daily goods category with its portable high-speed charger and compression pouch. Even if the funding amount is not large, brands that repeat projects have a high possibility of transitioning to an official launch.

Implications of Balanced Activity Data

During the aggregation process, there were cases where some companies faced sanctions from the Fair Trade Commission, but their proportion was small. More significant is the fact that the majority of companies filled the data with productive activities: contracts, hiring, and funding.

Things going well come from doing things well. That is the nature of capitalism. — Ralph Waldo Emerson

Even without borrowing Emerson's words, the conclusion is similar. The structure of creating stable revenue through procurement, securing growth momentum through hiring, and then checking consumer reactions through funding constitutes a healthy corporate cycle in itself. As specialist service firms expand their participation in procurement and AI and global hiring continues, the performance momentum for SMEs in the second half of the year is expected to become even stronger.
