September 3 Crowdfunding Report: Samsung Battery Comes Out on Top

백영우백영우 기자· 9/3/2026, 4:26:37 AM· Updated 9/3/2026, 4:26:37 AM

The ultra-budget charger in the 10,000-won range stalled at a mere 70,000 won.

A cordless vacuum cleaner fitted with a Samsung battery, by contrast, sailed past 18.75 million won. That is the verdict rendered by data from dozens of projects posted by 66 companies on reward-based crowdfunding, centered on Wadiz. The gap between the largest and smallest publicly disclosed funding totals came to roughly 293-fold. In other words, consumers opened their wallets for scarcity and trust, not for low prices.

Two Camps Divided at the Threshold of Summer

Because the tally was taken in early September, the data included a heavy share of summer-season products. The results split into two camps. The fast charger for three devices at once, from SMS Co., stalled in the 70,000-won range, while the 100-step mini cooling fan and the ultra-light compression pouch each stopped at around 150,000 won and 360,000 won. Lookatme's '-5°C the moment you put it on' cooling drawers did best among the small fry at 490,000 won, but remained far from the big money.

Food was the opposite story. Ongwae's 500-gram King peaches climbed to second place overall at 15.7 million won. Fruit Meister's new Geobong 'Purple Lady' grapes recorded 1.33 million won, and the 'Summer King' apples from a third-generation master grower's farm took in 920,000 won. Scarcity pitch lines such as 'once eaten only by the top 1 percent of gourmets' and 'yours for exactly one month' translated directly into real funding.

Where the Money Flowed: Trust and Scarcity

The common denominator at the top is unmistakable. Nowhome put the Samsung battery—a component brand belonging to a corporate giant—front and center to secure technical credibility. IQBox borrowed the power of global IP through a collaboration with Playmobil and the European Space Agency (ESA) and raised 15.58 million won. RunnerFit took aim at a specific hobby community with a full running kit in the 10,000-won price range and succeeded with 8.96 million won. These four projects alone absorbed about 59 million won. They read as counterexamples proving that even a value-for-money strategy can work when the target is clear.

They say the truth needs few words—and the market's truth, it seems, compresses into a handful of numbers.

Two New Currents: AI and the Encore

A new axis has appeared: AI productivity tools. Ssokon's AI shorts production service raised 3.8 million won, while Algorixm's AI service builder for non-developers collected 1.79 million won. Sunsaek Tool, for its part, branded itself an AI-based short-form video maker. There are signs that the promise of creating and monetizing content without writing code is hardening into a category of its own.

Knowledge and culture products also carried real weight. The Abyss Library's numerology textbook drew 2.97 million won, and Audiobooks' limited edition of 500 audiobooks brought in 4.58 million won. Truvo's anti-theft sling bag, at 2.92 million won, proved the depth of demand for practical bags. The re-opening, or 'encore,' model also caught the eye. People Korea kept its streak alive with two towels billed as its 25th and 22nd encores, pulling in 60,000 and 180,000 won respectively, and added another 1.3 million won with a cowhide convertible bag. Companies such as SMS and Lookatme are posting projects one after another, using crowdfunding less as one-off fundraising than as a regular sales channel.

The Market Structure Is Changing

The market these figures sketch is a polarized one. Household goods in the 10,000-won range now find themselves competing head-to-head with open marketplaces and overseas direct purchasing, and they cannot win backers without a differentiated story. By contrast, products armed with a brand or IP that proves trustworthiness, and with seasonal scarcity, can pull in large sums from a handful of backers. Demand validation for new products—the original purpose of reward-based crowdfunding—looks set to become ever clearer on that latter side.

In the second half of the year, the AI productivity tools and premium food categories look likely to thicken, and the shift toward long-term sales through encore campaigns has strong odds of widening. The deeper the money concentrates, however, the narrower the room for plain low-price strategies will become. Products that fail to build scarcity into their design are likely to be left with 100,000-won-range totals like that summer fan.
