Government question session ends with clash over local education subsidies and launch of corruption investigation office

The National Assembly will hold a plenary session on the 14th, the final day of the government question session, for questions in the areas of education, society, and culture. Rival parties are expected to clash over the Future Response Fund, cuts to local education subsidies, police mishandling of missing persons cases, and the launch of the prosecution investigation office and the senior officials investigation agency. The question session wraps up with a single day of proceedings on the 14th.

Leading off the questioning, the opposition will be represented by Rep. Seo Beom-su of the People Power Party, while the ruling party will field Rep. Kim Young-ho of the Democratic Party of Korea. On the government side, 11 officials including Prime Minister Han Sung-sook, Education Minister Choi Gyo-jin, Gender Equality and Family Minister Won Min-kyung, and Deputy Justice Minister Lee Jin-soo will attend to answer questions.

The same day, the National Assembly will continue the confirmation hearing for Supreme Court justice nominee Kim Sung-soo. Hearings for three ministerial nominees including Kim Seung-won are scheduled for the 15th, followed by two more on the 16th.
