October 2 Jobs Market Report: Rolex Leads Hiring

Luxury Distribution Emerges as the New Engine of the Hiring Market

Rolex is publicly recruiting staff for its first standalone flagship store in South Korea. Executive search firm Humanist Inc. has posted job listings for an assistant store manager, sales associates, and an office administration specialist for the Rolex standalone store. The company accounts for nearly half of all hiring data this period, underscoring that luxury retail remains the field with the largest demand for manpower.

According to the listings, positions are divided into Seoul, Gyeonggi, and nationwide categories. Alongside the Rolex store staffing, Louis Vuitton Korea has been recruiting sales associates, followed by postings for deputy managers and associates at Chaumet and Fred, jewelry brands under the LVMH Group. This is seen as a direct reflection of premium brands' efforts to reliably secure experienced sales staff as they expand their stores.

Notably, a substantial portion of these luxury hiring efforts is being conducted through headhunting and executive search firms. Small and mid-sized staffing agencies such as Human Consulting Group, HR Global Network, and ManpowerSearch are handling mandates spanning manufacturing, finance, and services, with luxury sales positions now becoming a staple of this channel. As Maria Sharapova's words suggest, the belief that well-prepared individuals deliver the best results is especially important for store staff facing customers — which is why brands are putting great care into screening candidates with the right experience and qualifications.

The Warp of the Job-Switching Market: Experienced Hires

The pattern running through the overall data is a clear focus on experienced professionals. RaonSearch Inc. is seeking an environmental, safety and health (SHE) manager at the assistant manager level for a specialty chemicals manufacturer, as well as experienced candidates at manager to senior manager level for cosmetics ingredient sales. GoodCareer is also broadly recruiting tech-focused roles, from a data center development PM to switchgear electrical designers, spanning grades from manager to director. The demand clearly shows companies' preference for talent that can contribute immediately, rather than new graduates.

By function, technology and digital roles stand out. RenewPeople is seeking English-speaking global game masters (GMs), a research lab director, and a team leader for overseas sales of PCBs for defense electronics. Human Consulting Group is looking for a payroll systems developer handling year-end tax settlement modules, while JSI Inc. seeks an automation programmer. Maverick Consulting is even recruiting at the CISO level, showing that demand for cybersecurity talent is expanding beyond pure technical roles into management positions.

The beauty and healthcare sectors are also active. ManpowerSearch Inc. is recruiting a Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and an e-commerce leader for a clean, vegan beauty brand. Face Plastic Surgery & Dermatology Clinic has begun hiring skincare specialists, nurse assistants, and consultation coordinators, with a requirement for English communication skills — a hint of globalization in medical services.

The Ecosystem of Regional and Small-Scale Hiring

Amid the metropolitan area's large-scale postings, regionally focused hiring remains alive and well. Uzfit's Changwon branch is seeking freelance trainers, and ShopMusic is looking for an early-childhood music instructor at its Cheongju branch. HR Global Network being entrusted with a director-level finance and accounting hire for a real estate company in Jeju signals that regional SMEs are also beginning to use professional consulting channels — suggesting that hiring infrastructure is shifting from Seoul-centric to distributed.

By industry, luxury and fashion retail sits at the top of the demand rankings, followed by manufacturing, IT and security, beauty, education, and medical services. Edtech and academy hiring are confirmed in Think Academy's and ESC English Academy's recruitment for education administration roles, showing steady demand for service jobs.

As the luxury industry's store expansion in Korea is expected to continue for the time being, hiring of sales and operations staff is projected to trend upward. In particular, the higher the share of foreign customers at a store, the greater the likely premium for experienced sales associates with language skills. This is already evident in multiple listings that explicitly list language proficiency as a job requirement, such as global game GMs and overseas sales team leaders.

In technical fields, demand for management roles in security and automation is expected to grow further. Compliance positions — including audit team leaders and chief information security officers — are increasing, centered on foreign insurers and mid-sized companies, suggesting that regulatory affairs talent may emerge as the next promising hiring field. Ultimately, the talent companies seek is converging, regardless of sector, on immediately deployable experience and global communication skills. This back-to-basics trend in the hiring market offers job seekers a clear direction for honing their capabilities.
