Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon on Tuesday emphasized the need for conservative unity that includes independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon and Reform Party lawmaker Lee Jun-seok, saying he would do his utmost if there is a role he can play. Speaking to reporters after attending a seminar held at the National Assembly for the 'Metropolitan Area Housing Innovation Forum,' Oh was asked about the need for conservative unity and said, "Conservative unity that brings everyone together and generates synergies is absolutely essential." The forum is co-chaired by Reform Party lawmaker Lee Jun-seok and People Power Party lawmaker Cho Jeong-hoon.

Regarding independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon, Mayor Oh said, "He is fighting the good fight, and he is an asset for the conservatives who could multiply our strength several times over if we join forces." About lawmaker Lee Jun-seok, he said, "Centrists, the metropolitan area, and young voters are essential to winning elections, and he has maintained appealing policies and political positions for these groups."

Mayor Oh urged President Lee Jae-myung to change the direction of his real estate policy, saying, "What is needed now is not stubbornness and obstinacy. He needs the courage to face reality and change his policies." He added, "The president is still defining the housing problem through the outdated dichotomy that 'conservative governments encouraged speculation while democratic governments curbed it.' This mindset is only making the problem harder to solve."

"The housing anxiety of residents in the metropolitan area is a serious crisis," Oh said. "I have repeatedly asked the president to shift away from a regulation-centered policy approach. To calm the housing market, we must first restore confidence that enough homes will be supplied where needed, and in time."
