October 14 Labor Market Report: A Rolex on the Job Board
Rolex's First Standalone Store in Korea Sends a Signal to the Hiring Market
Rolex has simultaneously posted openings for a deputy store manager and sales associates for its first standalone flagship store in Korea. A closer look at the 80 job postings tallied in public data reveals that this is not merely news of one brand's expansion, but a snapshot showing the direction of the second-half hiring market.
The tally covers 80 postings submitted by 46 companies. The highest count from a single company was consulting firm Humanist Co., which secured numerous postings in the luxury retail sector. In addition to staffing for the Rolex standalone flagship, the postings include Louis Vuitton Korea sales associate roles across Seoul, Gyeonggi Province, and nationwide, as well as deputy manager and associate positions at LVMH Group jewelry brands Chaumet and FRED. This suggests that as luxury consumption shows signs of recovery, store expansion and frontline staffing demand are moving in tandem.
A Market Structure Led by Experienced-Position Headhunting
Looking at the overall composition of postings, rolling and executive-search hiring focused on experienced candidates overwhelmingly outpaces open recruitment of new graduates. Renew People has successively sought management-level roles, including a global game GM with English proficiency, a research institute director at an ITS specialist company, and a team leader for overseas sales of automotive defense PCBs. Raon Search was commissioned to find a mid-level environmental, safety and health (SHE) specialist at an advanced chemical manufacturer, and sales staff at manager-to-deputy general manager level for a cosmetics ingredients company.
Maverick Consulting is seeking an auto parts sales department head/director-level key account manager and an information security manager, while Good Career is broadly recruiting a data center development PM and power panel electrical designers at everything from manager to department head level at a manufacturer. HR For U is looking for a compliance team leader at a foreign insurer. The key pattern in this data is that demand for experienced hires who can contribute immediately at middle-management level or above is commonly observed across multiple industries.
Labor Demand Diverges by Industry
By sector, consumer goods such as luxury and cosmetics, along with manufacturing and technology, form the twin pillars. ManpowerSearch was commissioned for a CMO and e-commerce leader at a clean, vegan beauty brand, and a planning role at a cosmetics ODM/OEM company. The fact that beauty industry hiring extends all the way to chief marketing officer level shows that brands have reached a more advanced stage of growth.
On the technology side, aerospace and R&D stand out. Following its 2026 postings for R&D staff in Incheon and Daejeon, V AeroSpace Co. has also posted openings for executive secretarial and support roles. Human Consulting Group repeatedly sought developers for a year-end tax settlement module in a payroll system, JSE Co. matched an automation control programmer, and Background Co. matched quality control staff for a Kosdaq-listed advanced chemical materials company. Another notable feature is that demand has converged on practical, hands-on technical roles that can be deployed immediately, rather than on new technologies like AI or software.
In the service sector, the regions are split between provinces and the capital area. P&P Career hired counselors for Yogiyo's Busan customer center and Bithumb CS representatives, while HR Global Network was commissioned for director-level finance and accounting at a Jeju real estate company, training planning at a small imported-car dealership in Gangnam, and office staff at a trading company in Songpa-gu. In education, Saenggak Academy and ESC English Academy sought secondary math instructors and administrative staff, while a dermatology clinic near Yongsan Station advertised for an English-speaking skincare specialist. It is also telling that foreign language proficiency has spread into a hiring requirement across job types, from game GMs to skincare specialists.
Consumption Recovery and Demand for Immediate Contributors Move Together
In sum, the picture drawn by this data is clear. Amid uncertainty, companies are opting to strengthen their workforce with proven experienced hires rather than regular open recruitment of new graduates, and that demand is appearing simultaneously in consumer goods such as luxury and beauty, and in manufacturing and technology. Rolex's move to directly hire even the deputy manager of its standalone store sits squarely within this trend.
Because luxury store expansion operates on the principle that the quality of customer-facing staff translates directly into sales, competition to secure experienced sales and management personnel is likely to intensify. Moreover, since requests for internal corporate functions such as R&D, quality, and compliance are commonly confirmed across multiple consulting firms, hiring that prioritizes operational stabilization over corporate growth is expected to continue throughout the second half. Just as Alfred Hitchcock said a good film conveys its story even with the sound turned off, this hiring market delivers its message—a structural shift toward experienced hires—with no need for elaborate background explanation.
