October 14 Public Data Report: Daehun Environment and Others Join Government Procurement

A Map of SME Activity Read Through Three Pillars: Procurement, Hiring, and Funding

An aggregation of public data from 175 companies shows government procurement, hiring, and crowdfunding appearing in equal measure. The corporate activity data collected this time showed government procurement, hiring, and crowdfunding each accounting for the same share, with the remainder consisting of sanctions and fraud-related issues. The fact that the three areas moved evenly, without tilting toward one field, indicates that SMEs' growth strategies are proceeding along three parallel tracks: entering public markets, securing talent, and raising funds from consumers.

The government procurement field included numerous environment, forestry, architecture, and tourism service companies such as Daehun Environment, G&N Planning Co., Neulpum E&C Co., Daekyung Forest Development, Hanin Comprehensive Architects & Engineers, and Namdo Tourism LLC. Technology- and design-focused firms such as Jinwoo ATS Co., Ace-Tone Engineering, and Hanbit Engineering Architects also left traces of procurement participation. In addition, companies spanned broadly across finance, safety, and services, including Kyobo Lifeplanet Life Insurance, Wible Co., Innovation Safety Technology Co., and Saeroi Co.

Procurement Market: A Deep Base of Regional Infrastructure Companies

Looking at the profiles of procurement participants, forestry firms such as Forest Resource Development and Daekyung Forest Development stand out. Adding Daehun Environment, which handles environmental cleanup, and Geumgang Geographic Information, a geospatial information specialist, it becomes clear that companies maintaining and managing regional infrastructure form one pillar of public procurement. It is also notable that two architecture firms made the list in succession. This suggests that as demand for public design remains steady, small and mid-sized design and engineering firms have secured stable contract opportunities. The participation of Namdo Tourism, a tour bus operator, illustrates a structure in which transportation and training needs of public institutions flow through to regional tourism companies.

Hiring Market: A Three-Way Split Across IT, Education, and Manufacturing

Job postings fall clearly into technical, education, and office roles. Renew People Co. recruited multiple positions at once, including an English-speaking global game GM, a research director at an ITS specialist, an overseas sales team leader for automotive defense PCBs, and an expatriate to oversee a Vietnamese production plant. Hiring that spans game operations, overseas sales of defense components, and overseas production management signals that the talent demands of companies expanding global businesses are growing on multiple levels.

Development roles are also active. Human Consulting Group sought a developer for a payroll processing system including year-end tax settlement modules, while JS E Co. posted a job opening for an automatic control programmer. Raon Search Co. recruited an environment, health and safety professional at the assistant manager level for an affiliate of an advanced chemicals manufacturer, and Background Co. also sought a quality QC specialist for a listed advanced chemical materials company affiliated with a major group. This shows simultaneous demand for quality and safety roles in the chemical materials manufacturing sector. In education, Shop Music recruited an early childhood music instructor on the condition of owning a vehicle, ESC English Academy and Saenggak Academy each sought education administrators and a middle school math instructor, and Uz Fit's Changwon branch recruited freelance trainers.

Crowdfunding: A 15.7 Million Won Fruit Project Raises the Most

In crowdfunding, the food category stood out. On-gwa's King Sugar peach project raised 15,701,300 won, recording the largest amount in this cycle. Yu Hyeong-gon's charcuterie board project raised 871,000 won, and Greenpick's limited-summer peach and plum compote raised 146,000 won. This reconfirms the formula for success in food funding: producers directly emphasizing concept and scarcity to reach consumers.

AI and IT products are also strong. Sok-On's AI content production project raised 3,807,000 won, and Algorixm's AI service builder for non-developers raised 1,798,000 won. Troika's TenHead massager followed with 1,536,000 won, and Trubo's anti-theft travel sling bag raised 2,924,000 won, as practicality-driven products trailed close behind. In the accessories, apparel, and household goods category, LOOK AT ME ran three projects—cooling boxer briefs, a silicone body shower pad, and a wrist-mounted smartphone holder—executing a multi-product strategy. SMS Co. also launched back-to-back funding campaigns for a QI2 fast charger and an ultra-light compression pouch.

What the Balance of Three Indicators Tells Us

The fact that procurement, hiring, and funding appeared in equal measure allows for two interpretations. First, it signals that SMEs are simultaneously leveraging the public market as a stable cash flow source and crowdfunding as a means of market validation. Furthermore, hiring operates as infrastructure supporting these growth engines. Engineering and design firms participating in procurement, manufacturing and IT companies actively hiring technical staff, and companies using funding to verify consumer demand directly are, in effect, different facets of the same SME ecosystem.

That said, the gaps in funding amounts across categories were large. While food projects reached the 15 million won range at the top, some household goods funding stalled at around 100,000 won. This numerically confirms the conventional wisdom that the era of opening markets on ideas alone is fading, and that differentiated products and proven supply capabilities decide funding success.

Public procurement participation is expected to serve as a stable revenue source for small and mid-sized design, environment, and forestry firms as long as regional infrastructure demand persists. In the hiring market, AI proficiency and overseas business experience are expected to appear more frequently in job requirements. The fact that global game operations, overseas plant management, and defense component sales were all hired in the same period suggests that Korean SMEs' overseas dependence is also being reflected in their workforce structures. Crowdfunding is expected to maintain its twin pillars of food and AI products for the time being, with the influence of companies pursuing multi-product, repeated launch strategies likely to grow. Although some companies were found to have faced sanctions or become entangled in fraud issues, these are not judged to be at a level that would alter the direction of the overall ecosystem.
