October 16 Public Data Report: Procurement Rushes Toward Daehun Environment

Procurement, Hiring, and Funding: The Activities of 175 Companies in One Place

Some 175 small and mid-sized enterprises are actively moving across diverse arenas, from public procurement to hiring and crowdfunding. The collected public data includes an even mix of government procurement contracts, job postings, and crowdfunding projects. The data is seen as evidence of companies' growth ambitions while also offering a read on broader industry trends. Charlie Munger once said, "It's better to buy a wonderful business at a fair price than a fair business at a wonderful price," and the corporate activity captured in public data likewise shows a marked pursuit of substance over flash.

Government Procurement Led by Environment, Construction, and Technical Services

In government procurement, a large number of SMEs secured contracts and entered the public market. Names such as Daehun Environment, Daekyung Forest Development, and Forest Resources Development Co. stand out in the environmental and forestry sectors — a sign that the expansion of eco-friendly budgets in the public sector is translating into procurement demand.

Construction and design are also active. Hanil Comprehensive Architects, Hanbit Engineering Architects, and Geumgang Geoinformation won contracts, confirming that demand for design and surveying services remains robust in public orders. Technical service firms such as Jinwoo ATS, Aston Engineering, and Hyuksin Safety Technology have also established a presence. Notably, a financial-sector company, Kyobo Life Planet Life Insurance, appeared in the procurement market — read as a sign that public orders are broadly distributed rather than concentrated in specific industries.

Job Market Led by Manufacturing and Digital Roles

Looking at job postings, demand for manufacturing and digital roles stands out. Renew People is recruiting multiple positions at once, including a global game GM, a research institute head, a team leader for overseas sales of automotive defense PCBs, and an expatriate overseeing a Vietnamese production plant. The case shows how a Korean company's push to simultaneously expand overseas production hubs and export sales networks can first be spotted in its hiring.

Technical roles are also deep. Human Consulting Group sought a payroll systems developer handling year-end tax settlement modules, JS E recruited an automation control programmer, and Raon Search was hiring an EHS officer for an advanced chemicals manufacturer. In education, S&C English Academy and Saenggak Academy opened positions for educational administration and math instructors. Postings for flexible employment — freelance trainers, video designers, and the like — were also confirmed, signaling that non-permanent employment arrangements have become routine.

Crowdfunding: An Unusual Pairing of Consumer Goods and AI Tools

In crowdfunding, agricultural food products and practical consumer goods shone. A campaign featuring large fruit dubbed "King Peaches" raised over 15.7 million won. An anti-theft travel sling bag brought in 2.92 million won and the TenHead massager 1.53 million won. The common thread: products closely tied to everyday life — travel, massage, apparel — opened backers' wallets.

The advance of AI-powered tools is also noteworthy. SokOn raised 3.8 million won with an AI content production project, an AI service builder for non-developers drew 1.79 million won, and a short-form video creation tool also secured support. As Robert Kiyosaki said, true entrepreneurs emerge in hard times — the AI boom in the funding market can be read as proof of that. Still, some projects raised only a few hundred thousand won, revealing the harsh reality of early validation stages.

Regulatory Risk and Implications

Behind the bright picture lie regulatory risks. Cases of Fair Trade Commission sanctions were confirmed, and some companies remain exposed to reputational issues. The scale is small relative to the whole, but it is not something to dismiss, given that public data serves as the first gatekeeper for gauging corporate credibility. Both investors and public buyers need to cross-verify multi-layered data.

In sum, the three streams of data — procurement, hiring, and funding — show SMEs targeting both the stable public market and the liquid consumer market at once. The intersection of manufacturing expansion and AI tool commercialization, confirmed across both hiring and funding, offers a clue for reading future industry trends early. However, considering the variance in funding success rates and regulatory issues, the dividing line between companies that can sustain growth momentum and those that cannot is expected to be decided by verification data.
