October 17 Jobs Market Report: Rolex Recruits Staff

Rolex has opened its first standalone flagship store in South Korea and launched an open recruitment for assistant store managers and sales associates.

Luxury and Service Hiring Accounts for Nearly Half

An analysis of 80 job postings from 46 Korean companies shows that the most prominent trend is talent acquisition in the luxury retail sector. Consulting firm Humanist Co. is handling recruitment for Rolex's first standalone flagship store in Korea—assistant store managers, sales associates, and office administration staff. The same firm also posted listings for Louis Vuitton Korea sales associates covering Seoul, Gyeonggi, and nationwide, as well as for assistant managers and associates at LVMH Group jewelry brands (Chaumet and Fred). With a single consulting firm securing multiple recruitment mandates from luxury brands, it can be interpreted that overseas luxury houses are simultaneously expanding direct operations and increasing store numbers in the Korean market.

Store roles span the full hierarchy—from management positions such as store managers and assistant managers to sales associates and administrative staff. Rather than simply filling sales positions, this amounts to building an entire store organization from scratch, signaling that the luxury industry has entered an expansion phase in domestic investment. The fact that sales roles cover Seoul, Gyeonggi, and nationwide areas is also read as a sign of diversifying logistics and locations.

STEM and R&D Hiring Focuses on Experienced, Specialized Roles

Another pillar of hiring demand is the technology sector. Renew People is recruiting an English-proficient global game GM, a research institute director at an ITS company, and a team leader for overseas sales of automotive and defense PCBs. VAerospace Inc. is recruiting 2026 R&D staff simultaneously in Incheon and Daejeon, while also hiring an Executive Assistant for business support. This is interpreted as the aerospace sector expanding its regional R&D hubs.

Manufacturing and engineering openings also appear across the board. Good Career is seeking a data center development project manager and a power panel electrical designer at a mid-sized manufacturer at the manager-to-senior-manager level, while JS-E Inc. is recruiting an automation control programmer and Background Inc. is hiring a quality QC specialist at a KOSDAQ-listed advanced chemical materials company. Demand for in-house systems development is also confirmed, such as Human Consulting Group's recruitment of a payroll system developer. A common feature of these postings is that many specify experienced hires—and often at the manager level or above—rather than entry-level candidates. This means the market centers on positions requiring immediate contribution.

Consulting Firms Play a Growing Role in the Outsourced Recruiting Market

A notable pattern in the data is the composition of hiring entities. A substantial portion of the 46 companies are recruiting agencies and headhunting consultancies. Raon Search Co. is handling outsourced recruitment for an EHS (SHE) specialist at an advanced chemicals manufacturer and experienced sales staff at a cosmetics ingredients company, both at the deputy general manager to general manager level. ManpowerSearch Inc. is seeking key executive roles such as a CMO and e-commerce leader for a clean, vegan beauty brand, while Maverick Consulting is looking for a Key Account Manager and an information security manager at an auto parts company. HR Global Network Co., P&P Career, HR For You, and Prynock Co. also handled postings on behalf of client companies.

This structure suggests two things. First, the share of small and mid-sized enterprises preferring outsourced recruitment through specialist consulting firms over direct hiring has grown. In addition, many postings anonymize the client—described as "an affiliate of a well-known group" or "a foreign insurance company"—evidence that companies in fiercely competitive industries are strategically managing recruitment information itself.

Job Diversity Likely to Keep Trending Toward Experience and Expertise

Looking at individual postings, the job market's base is remarkably broad. The spectrum ranges from skincare specialists and nurse aides at dermatology clinics, customer service agents for Yogiyo and Bithumb, math instructors and administrative staff at academies, freelance trainers, and video designers at a fashion brand, to trade office staff. Notably, the posting for Favederm Dermatology Clinic requires English proficiency, and the game GM role also demands English skills—showing that language ability has become a differentiating factor in customer-facing roles.

Overall, the market picture painted by this data is closer to "sourcing the right experienced talent for the right positions" than "across-the-board hiring expansion." While luxury retail is creating new store organizations from scratch, manufacturing and corporate services are dominated by replacement and reinforcement hiring targeted at specific roles. The structure of specifying experience levels and the high share of outsourced recruitment are expected to persist for the time being. Companies' preference for reducing hiring risk—securing proven talent through specialist agencies—is unlikely to change in the short term. As Coco Chanel once said, "There is no time other than the time to work and the time to love"—and right now, the market is too busy choosing people who can start immediately to ponder résumés.
