Jang Dong-hyuk, leader of the People Power Party, said at the party's Supreme Council meeting at the National Assembly on the 19th that the Democratic Party's push to impeach Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae was "a parliamentary coup destroying the separation of powers, a true insurrection." He argued that the real aim of the impeachment is to suspend the Chief Justice from his duties and block the regular judicial appointments scheduled for February next year.

Regarding President Lee Jae-myung, he claimed that the president had placed his personal case lawyers in key positions, turning the government and ruling party into an "anti-protection law firm for Lee Jae-myung."

On Gyeonggi Governor Choo Mi-ae, he claimed she cut the vehicle purchase budget for fire trucks by 2.65 billion won and entirely eliminated the 100 million won fund for a memorial project honoring firefighters who died in the line of duty. Jang also claimed that Governor Choo moved into a government-subsidized apartment with a jeonse deposit worth 1.2 billion won.

Jang urged President Lee and Governor Choo to join hands and step down.

On the government's handling of the economy, he pointed out that Seoul apartment prices set a new record for the 88th consecutive week of sharp increases, while youth employment fell for the 47th consecutive month, down 147,000 from a year earlier—the longest streak since the financial crisis.
