Lee Jae-oh slams Kim Tae-gyu, Lee Jin-sook, and Joo Jin-woo as "immature" — "They should learn politics before picking fights"
Lee Jae-oh, senior adviser to the People Power Party, criticized the aggressive conduct of Reps. Kim Tae-gyu, Joo Jin-woo, and Lee Jin-sook on CBS Radio's "Park Sung-tae's News Show" on the 21st. "They are immature people, and that is not how politics should be learned," he said, stressing: "They should learn the politics of compromise, consultation, embrace, and persuasion. When an issue arises, jumping straight into a fight is not politics." He added, "Even if you are praised for standing at the forefront of battles against the ruling party, it does not help your political career. You must properly lead the political arena."
His criticism was not aimed only at the opposition. "These days the ruling party hands the opposition ammunition for attacks at every turn," the senior adviser pointed out. "Politics must not be done for show — not politics done just to be seen by others, to hold on to power, or politics for politics' sake." He went on to say, "The way both the ruling and opposition parties behave now is exactly the same. The public doesn't figure into their thinking at all."
The conduct of the three lawmakers under fire is as follows. Rep. Kim Tae-gyu said last month that "Chun Doo-hwan did not stage an insurrection," and on the 6th, during a National Assembly audit of the Supreme Court, he invoked Bongeowi Rock, the site of former President Roh Moo-hyun's death, saying, "Let's go make some 'truth of Bongeowi Rock.'" Rep. Joo Jin-woo referred to actor Yoo Hae-jin, who appeared in the film "The Assassins," as a "North Korean portrait" on the 29th of last month, and on the 12th remarked that it was time "to cut off Lee Jae-myung." Rep. Lee Jin-sook held a forum at the National Assembly in August that disparaged the May 18 Democratic Uprising, and on the 10th she visited the gravesite of President Lee Jae-myung's parents in Bonghwa County, North Gyeongsang Province, demanded that the grave be relocated, and posted a photo with the gravesite in the background on Facebook.
Amid this controversy, 'Deomincho,' a group of first-term lawmakers from the Democratic Party of Korea, held a press conference on the 13th, urging the three lawmakers to resign, saying, "We can no longer recognize these three first-term lawmakers, who have lost even the barest decency as human beings and committed filial betrayal, as members of the National Assembly."
