Park Kyung-taek raises suspicions of cover-up in Han Dong-hoon's son's school violence case; Han denounces 'low-quality attack' and threatens legal action

When Democratic Party of Korea Rep. Park Kyung-taek raised suspicions on the 22nd that independent Rep. Han Dong-hoon and his wife had covered up their son's school violence case during a National Assembly Legislation and Judiciary Committee audit, Han immediately denounced it as a "low-quality attack" and moved to take legal action. During the audit, Rep. Park argued that Han's spouse had served as a member of the school's operating committee at the time the school violence incident involving their son occurred, and that the case had been dismissed while she was in that post. Referring to text messages and family background related to the son, she demanded that the facts be verified. "This case was dismissed just before the Democratic government was established," she said, adding, "Please confirm why such a disposition was made." She also said she expected the case to become the subject of an investigation by the Corruption Investigation Office or the police, and asked for attention to be paid so that relevant materials could be provided.

Han and his wife had been accused of obstruction of rights through abuse of authority and violations of the School Violence Prevention Act over the school violence allegations involving their son, but prosecutors dismissed the case in May 2025. Dismissal is a disposition that closes a case without a judgment on the merits when procedural requirements are not met.

Han immediately fired back in a Facebook post that day. "After Rep. Park lunged like a pack of dogs at my daughter, saying she would 'get Han Dong-hoon,' and failed, she has now brought back the false black propaganda that my underage son is a school violence perpetrator, hiding behind immunity privileges," he wrote. He added, "The more I look at it, the more low-quality and pathetic it is. Am I really that scary?"

Han stressed that the allegations themselves were untrue. "Rep. Hwang Un-ha abandoned a plan to make this false disclosure on the eve of early voting in the last general election, and Jeon Yeo-ok, who went on YouTube talking about school violence, was investigated by police for spreading false information and referred to prosecutors with a recommendation for indictment," he said. He added that a civil damages lawsuit is also underway.

Han also disputed the source of the text message screenshot Rep. Park cited as evidence. "The person who spread that unidentified screenshot on an online community is reportedly an underage offender who assaulted Rep. Baek Hyun-jin and inflicted injury," Han explained. He added, "We will take legal action, both civil and criminal, without exception against those who spread false information about minors, including the original spreader of the material."
