Woman in Her 40s Arrested for Murdering Her Mother

A woman in her 40s, accused of killing her mother in her 60s at their home in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, was placed under arrest on the 24th. Judge Yoon Jae-nam of the Seoul Southern District Court issued the arrest warrant at a pre-arrest suspect hearing that day, citing the risk of flight.

A called the police herself at around 8:15 a.m. on the 22nd shortly after committing the crime and was immediately arrested at the scene. In her initial report, she stated that she had "done something terrible to her stepmother," but identity checks confirmed the victim was her biological mother.

Police investigation found no financial disputes or grudges between the two. Police are looking into the exact motive for the crime.
