GitHub Unveils 'Copilot Fusion,' Which Automatically Selects the Right AI Model for the Job
GitHub has unveiled 'Copilot Fusion,' a tool that automatically picks the AI model best suited for each task. GitHub, the world's largest software development platform, announced the launch of the tool during the keynote at its annual developer event 'GitHub Universe 26' in San Francisco on the 28th, local time. Jay Parikh, Microsoft's Corporate Vice President of CoreAI, took the stage for the announcement.
GitHub explained that Copilot Fusion delivers performance comparable to top-tier coding AI models while cutting costs in half and reducing task completion time by 40%.
Alongside this, GitHub also introduced 'Copilot Apps,' which connects multiple AI tools across the entire software development process to automate tasks, and 'Copilot Projects,' which launches agents and distributes work based on development goals. Copilot Projects is currently available to all users.
According to a GitHub report, developers around the world pushed code to GitHub 17.9 billion times over the past year, more than in the previous two years combined. As of September this year, more than 40% of final code merge requests had been drafted by AI. South Korean developers ranked seventh globally, uploading code to public repositories more than 13.3 million times in the second quarter of this year.
