The Jeungpyeong County Council of the National Council for Peaceful Unification, an advisory body directly under the President, held its regular meeting on the 18th to discuss regional policy directions, both domestic and foreign, for peaceful coexistence on the Korean Peninsula. The meeting focused on gathering opinions on 'domestic and foreign policy directions for peaceful coexistence on the Korean Peninsula' and discussing major business plans for 2026.
In his opening remarks, Council Chairman Kim Do-jung emphasized that sustainable peace on the Korean Peninsula is a process of building the future through mutual trust and cooperation. Jeungpyeong County Mayor Lee Jae-young expressed expectations for spreading consensus on peaceful unification and strengthening communication foundations within the local community through the council's key initiatives.
The council plans to continue its unification-related activities by pursuing its own projects this year, including unification and security lectures, a peace and unification wish walking event, and security field trips for youth.
