Scalping Surges Amidst Anticipation for BTS Comeback Stage

With all 22,000-plus seats for BTS's free comeback performance at Gwanghwamun Square now sold out, illegal ticket scalping targeting fans who couldn't secure tickets is emerging, warranting caution. The main stage is being set up at Gwanghwamun Square, with viewing areas extending from in front of Gwanghwamun to the southern section of the Sejong-daero intersection. All 22,000-plus free seats have been fully booked.

On used goods trading sites, standing seats for the performance are being scalped for up to 400,000 won, and assigned seats for 300,000 won. In the case of Goyang concert tickets, it has been confirmed that they were traded for over 2 million won, more than nine times the original price of 260,000 won. As QR codes that cannot be captured or reused were introduced, a method of transferring the entire account from the reservation site has appeared.

The government is investigating 105 suspected scalped tickets discovered on online used goods trading sites last week. 56 police officers will be deployed on the day of the performance for on-site enforcement. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will install ID check booths in all areas of the venue to verify attendees and distribute wristbands that cannot be reattached if damaged.
