Israeli intelligence agencies reported that Iran's supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei is not functioning properly and is unable to control the regime. Israeli national security sources assessed Mojtaba Khamenei as 'nothing more than an empty shell'.

Israeli national security officials stated that the current Iranian leadership is 'broken, confused, and barely functioning.' They revealed that there is credible information suggesting Mojtaba Khamenei is unable to exercise control over the regime's operations or the remaining system, especially amid his absence from public view.

Mojtaba Khamenei was appointed as Iran's next supreme leader and has not appeared before the public since the death of his father, Ali Khamenei. He is the son of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who died in an Israeli airstrike on February 28, 2026. He reportedly narrowly escaped the incident by minutes in the building where he was with his father just before his father's death.
