Chungnam Province Integrates 67,000 CCTV Cameras to Enhance Disaster Response
Chungnam Province launched operations on April 7 for a system that monitors video from approximately 67,500 CCTV cameras across the province in a single location, enabling faster and more effective responses to disaster situations. The integrated system links city and county smart city safety networks, wildfire surveillance cameras, and national traffic information center footage.
When a disaster occurs, the control center can immediately view footage from the surrounding area to analyze the extent of damage and the possibility of its spread.
Chungnam Province stated that the introduction of this system will improve the speed of disaster situation recognition and the accuracy of judgments, while also significantly strengthening inter-agency information sharing. Hong Jong-wan, Chungnam Province's Deputy Governor for Administration, said, "The key to disaster response lies in initial judgment and speed," adding, "We will focus on minimizing damage to residents through the integrated system."
