Gangseo-gu Council Chairman and Operations Committee Chairman Referred to Prosecutors on Hiring Irregularities Charges
Seoul Gangseo Police Station announced today (the 9th) that it has referred Gangseo-gu Council Chairman Park Mo and Operations Committee Chairman Jeon Mo, who were suspected of hiring irregularities, to prosecutors on bribery charges.
The two individuals are accused of exerting influence during the hiring process of a fixed-term civil servant, identified as A, for a special appointment position at the Gangseo-gu Council. Individual A handled hiring and personnel matters at the council.
After receiving the case from the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission in October last year, police booked Park and Jeon as suspects and searched the Gangseo-gu Council Chairman's office and Operations Committee Chairman's office.
Following a pre-arrest warrant hearing for the two individuals on the 31st of last month, the Seoul Southern District Court issued arrest warrants, citing concerns that they might destroy evidence.
