People Power Party's Jang Dong-hyuk invited to Washington IRI roundtable on April 15
The International Republican Institute (IRI) has announced it will host People Power Party Representative Jang Dong-hyuk for a 90-minute closed-door roundtable in Washington D.C. on April 15. The U.S.-based Korean newspaper NNP (News & Post) reported on the official statement released by IRI, which specified that it was 'hosting' the People Power Party representative and disclosed related conversation details.
The roundtable is expected to cover the current state of the South Korea-U.S. alliance, the sharing of democratic values, and measures to strengthen cooperation.
IRI stated that it has engaged with various figures across the South Korean political spectrum, including leaders from the Democratic Party. IRI clarified that it does not operate programs within South Korea but focuses on promoting human rights in North Korea, and it does not get involved in domestic U.S. politics or government policy decisions.
