Samsung Electronics faces police probe over alleged union blacklist
A police investigation has been launched following allegations that Samsung Electronics attempted to compile a 'blacklist' to identify employees' union membership status. This action comes after evidence emerged suggesting some employees attempted to use personal information without authorization to identify staff who had not joined a labor union.
Samsung Electronics confirmed that a list containing details such as department names, employee names, and employee numbers was shared on its internal messenger and other platforms. In an internal notice on the 10th, the company stated that inappropriate attempts to identify non-union members by unauthorized use of employee personal information had been detected.
Samsung Electronics filed a criminal complaint with the Hwaseong-Dongtan Police Station in Gyeonggi Province on April 9th, requesting an investigation into alleged violations of the Personal Information Protection Act.
