Kumho Petrochemical Wins Jang Yeong-sil Award for Recycled ABS Technology for Car Interiors

Kumho Petrochemical has won the 2026 12th week IR52 Jang Yeong-sil Award, recognizing its technology to advance recycled ABS plastic recovered from waste electronics into materials for car interiors, in collaboration with Seoyeon E-hwa and Hyundai Motor researchers.

The heat-resistant ABS, applying over 20% recycled raw materials, reduced carbon emissions by approximately 16% and met automotive parts standards, leading to actual mass production.

Kumho Petrochemical has received the Jang Yeong-sil Award a total of 6 times since 1996, and this is its first award in the energy and environment sector.
